The Physical Properties of Texcel Rubber Products
The Physical Properties of Texcel Rubber Products and What They Mean
To select the correct sheet rubber for your operations, it's essential crucial to understand the material’s properties and how each one impacts overall performance and success. These include durometer, tensile strength, elongation, temperature rating, weather-, abrasion-, UV-, chemical- resistance, and more.
At Texcel, many of our sheet rubber products are manufactured in accordance with ASTM D2000 specifications, reflecting our commitment to delivering high quality sheet rubber.
Here are just a few key points you can explore on our website.
Tensile Strength
Rubber with a high tensile rating is incredibly versatile, making it a go-to material across many industries. A high tensile strength allows the rubber to withstand demanding applications without sacrificing performance.
Our TEX-GUM is a standout product when it comes to tensile strength, holding an above average tensile rating of 3,700 PSI. For even greater durability, the TEX-DIAPHRAGM pushes that rating higher with an impressive 4,500 PSI.
Durometer
When it comes to hardness (durometer), Texcel delivers options that are often hard to find elsewhere. Across all our materials Texcel covers a wide range of durometers, especially our Neoprene offerings which range from 40 to 80 in durometer, giving customers the flexibility to choose the right balance of firmness and performance. A higher durometer means the material resists deformation under pressure, ideal for applications where durability is non-negotiable.
Temperature Ratings
When operations push into extreme conditions, Texcel’s products with high-temperature ratings give customers the confidence to keep performing with ease. One standout product is our peroxide-cured TEX-PC-EPDM. While most commercial-grade EPDM is sulfur-cured with lower heat resistance, Texcel’s peroxide-cured formula is built to go further, handling temperatures up to +300°F intermittently and as low as -49°F.For applications that demand even more, the TEX-FKM steps in with exceptional performance, capable of handling temperatures up to +450°F. The TEX-SIL series is engineered to perform in extreme conditions, from temperature ratings from as high as +450°F to as low as -80°F.
Resistances (Abrasion, Chemical, Weathering, UV)
In demanding environments, resistance to everyday challenges is just as important as tensile strength, durometer and extreme temperature ratings. Factors such as abrasion, weathering, UV, and chemical exposure all play a critical role in overall performance. The TEX-FKM elastomer has exceptional chemical resistance, making it highly durable against degradation or damage when exposed to a wide range of chemicals in operation.
Texcel’s EPDM and Neoprene products have excellent weather and UV resistance, engineered to withstand extreme conditions and prolonged ozone exposure without significant degradation. When it comes to abrasion resistance, both the TEX-GUM line and TEX-ORANGE are engineered for superior durability in high-wear environments.
Food Grade Products
When it comes to choosing the right sheet rubber for your operation, every detail matters. For food-grade applications, a product like TEX-WHITE is essential. This white nitrile sheet is FDA compliant, it’s non-toxic, non-marking, and non-allergenic. Beyond safety, TEX-WHITE delivers excellent resistance to oils (especially food-based oils) and greases, making it an ideal choice for most food-grade applications. Texcel also offers a complete line of food-grade products, also including White EPDM, White Neoprene and White Silicone.
Choosing the right sheet rubber isn’t just about picking a material, it’s about matching strength, hardness, temperature tolerance, chemical resistance, and application-specific properties to meet the demands of your operation. Texcel’s wide range of products, ranging from the high-tensile strength of TEX-DIAPHRAGM to specialized solutions like the FDA compliant TEX-WHITE, ensures that we have the products that fits your needs.
At Texcel, you get more than just sheet rubber, you get performance, durability, and peace of mind, no matter how demanding the operation.
